Mara flipped herself about in the water so as to make sure that I was keeping up.
"Keep your arms at your side Ted. Don't fight with yourself, but let your body shape your path in the water." she said, letting her voice ring clear as a bell through my head.
It felt embarrassing to feel myself writhing through the water like this. I wasn't a milotic and she knew it, but why would she be trying to teach me to swim like this if I wasn't like her? A temptation arose within me to retreat to the surface and give this venture up as a waste of time, but as I turned to face Mara, I saw within her eyes an unassailable belief and confidence that she had in me and my ability to overcome any challenge before me.
